The Boston Conservatory | 2012

The 2012 Boston Conservatory fundraising Gala featured musical, dance, and theater performances inspired by Academy Award-winning movies.

The evening included a red-carpet entrance with a step-and-repeat with paparazzi leading guests into a cocktail hour featuring a silent auction and harp performances.

When guests moved to dinner they took their seats at tables surrounding a stage in the round and enjoyed a 3 course plated dinner as the students took to the stage. Performances ranged from an opera duet from The Magic Flute, featured in Amadeus, to a lively rendition of Cell Block Tango from Chicago, and a moving dance number set to the theme music from Schindler's List had everyone in tears. The musical theater and dance performances were book-ended by a full orchestra performing a compilation Oscar winning music.

“It’s hard to know where to begin, in expressing the tremendous joy, pride, and gratitude we’re all feeling as the afterglow of Saturday’s “Reaching for the Stars” Gala. This was undoubtedly the finest Gala performance we have ever mounted.”
- Richard Ortner, Boston Conservatory President

“I wanted to congratulate you for the fabulous job you did at the sensational Gala, it was the best I have ever seen.”
- Gail Flatto, Boston Conservatory Trustee
